DESIGNING THE CARPET, HAND-PUNCHING, TRACING
Every act of weaving involves choosing a particular yarn , deciding on colors , imagining an abstract or a traditional design and all this is precisely done by the designers. Each design begins with an inspiration. From a hand-made design to a computer aided designs everything is done precisely. To obtain the perfect design champo uses both technology and the skill of hands.
After the design is ready it is scaled into stensils ready for tracing on the loom. The next step towards carpet making is hand punching. Hand punching is performed using hands in which the holes are made through stentils using needle. This requires lot of focus. Now its time for the final tracing in this the whole stensils is colored which ultimately gives the dotted design on the loom. Now the design is ready for tufting.
